Blast Off into Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals with Legendary Promo Cards
The Pokémon Trading Card Game's latest expansion, Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals, is set to launch on May 30, 2025. However, eager Trainers can get a head start with the Build & Battle Box, available at select retailers starting May 17, 2025.
What’s Inside the Build & Battle Box?
Each Build & Battle Box offers:
- Four Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals booster packs
- A 40-card ready-to-play deck featuring key cards from current and prior sets
- One of four unique foil promo cards
Meet the Exclusive Promo Cards
Players will receive one of the following promo cards:
- Ethan’s Typhlosion: Known for its Buddy Blast attack, dealing 40 damage plus 60 more for each Ethan’s Adventure card in your discard pile.
- Misty’s Gyarados: Features the Splashing Panic attack, discarding the top seven cards of your deck and doing 70 damage for each Misty’s Pokémon discarded.
- Team Rocket’s Tyranitar: Utilizes the Sand Stream Ability, placing two damage counters on each of your opponent’s Basic Pokémon during Pokémon Checkup.
- Team Rocket’s Mimikyu: Boasts a Retreat Cost of zero and can be strategically used with Team Rocket’s Giovanni to switch in and out of battle efficiently.
Prerelease Events
Starting May 17, 2025, select retailers will host Prerelease events, allowing players to experience the new expansion before its official release. These events provide an excellent opportunity to test out the new cards and strategies in a fun and competitive environment.
