New Dual Sets Launching June 2025
The Pokémon Trading Card Game is set to captivate fans with the release of its dual sets, Black Bolt and White Flare, on June 6, 2025. These expansions will spotlight all 156 Pokémon from the Unova region, offering collectors and players a comprehensive Gen 5 experience.
Each set will feature 86 cards, not including secret rares, and will be available in booster boxes containing 20 packs. Notably, every Unova Pokémon will receive either an Art Rare (AR) or Special Art Rare (SAR) card, providing fresh artwork and designs for longtime favorites. Legendary Pokémon Reshiram and Zekrom will be central figures in these sets, appearing on exclusive deck boxes and card sleeves.
In addition to the booster packs, a special Black Bolt & White Flare Card File Set will be released, including a promotional Victini card and a binder designed to hold all 156 Unova Pokémon cards. This collector's item is priced at 2,640 yen.
Throwback to the original Black & White series
The upcoming Black Bolt and White Flare sets will reintroduce the classic Tinsel Holofoil paper, known for its bold horizontal stripes. This eye-catching style was originally featured in the Pokémon TCG from the Black & White era through to the 2013 Legendary Treasures set. Individual booster packs will be priced at ¥1,450 (approximately $10), while deluxe five-pack bundles will retail for ¥2,640 (around $18.34). Although The Pokémon Company has not officially confirmed a global release date, their past patterns indicate an international launch is likely in summer 2025.
Fans outside Japan can anticipate an English adaptation of these sets, expected to launch on July 18, 2025, featuring similar content and exclusive items. This release continues the trend of nostalgic sets, following the successful Pokémon Card 151, and celebrates the rich history of the Unova region in the Pokémon universe.
