Battle It Out Against New Dynamax Pokémon

A notable newcomer to the Pokémon roster in Pokémon GO is the Wushu Pokémon - Kubfu! Trainers can encounter the Fighting-type Pokémon Kubfu through the season's Special Research. With sufficient training, Kubfu can evolve into Urshifu, choosing between Single Strike Style or Rapid Strike Style. You can use Kubfu during Dynamax battles. Additionally, Dynamax versions of Raikou, Entei, and Suicune are making their debut in Max Battles at different times during the season. Gigantamax Machamp and others will appear in Gigantamax Battles.

For US$8.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you can play through a separate Special Research and encounter Dynamax Kubfu again. You can purchase a ticket for this Special Research from Wednesday, March 5, at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, March 10, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time Ticket holders will gain access to the Special Research during Might and Mastery. To receive the Special Research, you must open Pokémon GO at some point between Wednesday, March 5, at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, March 10, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. After you’ve received the Special Research, you can complete it at any time.

Pokémon such as Nickit and Thievul are now available, expanding the roster of Galar region species in the game.

Might and Mystery will feature Community Days with some Pokémon returning from earlier Community Days.

Research Breakthrough

The Field Research will feature different Pokémon.For the first time in Pokémon GO, Charcadet may appear as a Shiny Pokémon. All other Pokémon in the list below (except for Frigibax) can appear as a Shiny Pokémon.

Seasonal Bonuses

Might and Mastery will feature the following bonuses all Season long:

  • Increased friendship bonus damage dealt by Pokémon in raids.
  • Trainers level 31 and above will receive one guaranteed Rare Candy XL for catching a five-star Raid Boss during a Raid Hour.
  • Trainers level 31 and above will receive one guaranteed Candy XL when trading Pokémon.
  • Increased Stardust for the first catch of the day.

GO Battle League

Battle It Out Against Other Trainers

The GO Battle League returns as part of Might and Mastery! Get your Pokémon ready to battle in competitions such as the Willpower Cup, the Spring Cup, Master Premier, and more!

GO Battle League: Might and Mastery will start on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8). The following will occur at the beginning of the Season.

  • End-of-Season rewards will be available on the Battle screen.
  • Your GO Battle League rank will be reset.
  • Rank-up requirements will remain the same as the prior Season.

GO Battle Week: Might and Mastery

This will start Wednesday, May 21, at 12:00 a.m. to Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. local time.

Bonuses:

  • 4× Stardust from win rewards. (This does not include end-of-set rewards.)
  • The maximum number of sets you can play per day will increase from five to 20—for a total of 100 battles—from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. local time.
  • Free battle-themed Timed Research will be available. Rewards include a hat for your avatar inspired by Mustard.
  • Pokémon encountered via GO Battle League rewards will have a wider variance of Attack, Defense, and HP.

GO Battle League Timed Research Pass

For our most dedicated battlers, a pass to access battle-themed Timed Research will be available in the in-game shop at no cost once GO Battle League: Might and Mastery begins.

This Timed Research will keep track of your victories throughout the Season. Each research page will require 100 wins to complete, and doing so will award Stardust and items such as Rare Candy XL, an Elite Fast TM (at 400 wins), and an Elite Charged TM (at 500 wins). Keep at it throughout the Season to see how far you can get!
